Practical Motor Cruising and Power Courses
PRACTICAL MOTOR CRUISING
RYA International Certificate of Competence – 3 days (over 10 metres)
This is the minimum qualification you require in order to charter a vessel internationally. The course covers a specific syllabus, including anchoring, safety, tides, chartwork, weather and collision regs. This certificate is available to UK Citizens and Residents only.
RYA Day Skipper Practical
Motor Cruising Course (Non-Tidal) – 4 days
After some practical experience this is the next step after the ICC. The aim is to teach practical pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling up to the standard required to skipper a motor cruiser safely in familiar water by day.
RYA Coastal Skipper Practical Motor Cruising (Non-Tidal) – 5 days
This course is for the more experienced motor cruising skipper to improve on their skills. Most of the syllabus is similar to the Day Skipper course but are covered in greater depth, with the aim of perfecting the skills and techniques required to skipper a motor cruiser safely on coastal and offshore passages.
RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Preparation –Practical – 5 days
The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate is the ultimate achievement of any skipper. It is necessary for the skipper to have experienced 2,500 miles at sea before they are to attempt this practical course. The syllabus is similar to the Coastal Skipper but the use of astro-navgation equipment is restricted. The aim is to prepare the candidate to skipper a Motor cruiser on any passage, day or night.The company is run by a dedicated, professional and friendly team who continually provide the highest standards of safety, service and satisfaction. Introduction to Powerboating – 1 Day
This course provides a practical introduction to powerboat handling skills. No previous experience is necessary. The course involves safety aspects, maneuvering, launching, recovering and some theory.RYA Level 2
